I'll Be Back - Talking TERMINATOR: GENISYS as Well As Commentaries On Out Now With Aaron & Abe

Hey everyone!  How have you been?  Is your summer going good?  I know I've been away, but I've had quite an eventful and very busy few months and Naptown Nerd had to be placed on the back burner for a bit.  I would've like to have done some retrospectives for all these franchise films coming out this summer (Poltergeist, Insidious, Jurassic Park) but when the time is needed by either work or family, those come first no question.

The Favorite Films Of My Lifetime: 1991

Forewarning, there's a really wild choice here in this year's picks.  But, damnit, I'm going to go ahead and go with it.  And when you read about it, maybe you'll get why.  Plus if you know me and some of the movies that I tend to watch and attach myself to, you'll understand.  1991 had a lot of cool stuff and a lot of middle of the road stuff for me.  Things have slid a little as far as "absolute favorites" for me following 1989.  But, hell, we still have plenty of good stuff to choose from.  Tim Burton ended his own streak by not making a movie in this year.

The Favorite Films Of My Lifetime: 1987

Well, this year pissed me off.  It was hard as hell to dwindle it down to 6.  So much good stuff in this year.  So many favorites.  There are plenty I'm going to miss on this one.  I boiled it down to what I have watched most and what I've gone back to more recently and more often.  I'd like to take this moment as well, and give an honorable mention to Miami Connection which came out this year.  Its an incredible film that Drafthouse Films unearthered a little over a year ago and its absolutely fabulous.  See it if you've not had the privilege

The Favorite Films Of My Lifetime: 1984

This was a pretty damn good year in terms of having to weed films down.  It came down to being honest with myself.  Ultimately, Beverly Hills Cop was cut from this list as I hadn't picked up in forever until I did the retrospective this past summer.  The others on this list are ones I have seen countless times and have been with me for years and years and always jump with me from home video format to home video format.  1984 was a good year.  And, these films all hit the 30 year milestone this year.

My 2013: The 10 Best Movies You Probably Didn't See

In order to offset my Worst Of list (coming later today) I'd like to add something positive, so here's a look at 10 movies that, judging by box office, you likely didn't go check out but were well worth your time.  These are ones that specifically won't make my overall Top 10 list.  Pictured above is The Lone Ranger, which isn't on this list, but I don't think is as heinous as you may have heard.  It's biggest crime is being unnecessarily too damn long.  It does however, provide a fantastic final action sequence.  Just wanted to drop that tid bit while I'm here.  Without further adieu and, of course, in alphabetical order here's the Top 10 best movies you probably didn't see this year.

Roger Moore, The Man With The Golden Apology Needed

News this week came that Liam Neeson would be reprising his role as a man with a "particular set of skills" for a 3rd go-round in Taken 3.  When the film releases in 2014 or 2015, Neeson will be the ripe young age of 62 or 63 playing an action powerhouse badass.  Also this week, a trailer arrived for the new Sylvester Stallone/Arnold Swarzenegger team up Escape Plan.  Both also had solo adventures this past winter with The Last Stand (see it!!!) and Bullet To The Head (have some beers while you watch it!).
